The Oasis

After the labor of building and the refinement of the desert,

a new question comes to mind:

Can we recognize true water when we see it?

The Oasis is where clarity finally meets us.

Isaiah 43:19-20

“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not percieve it?

I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

The wild animals will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches;

for I give water in the wilderness,

rivers in the desert,

to give drink to my chosen people.”

The Desert Season is my favorite so far.

The Builder’s Season was the introduction,

light, even humorous at times.

But the Desert was different.

It was our season of Refinement.

We weren’t feeling light;

we were feeling introspective,

navigating our journey

while juggling many things at once.

This was the season that proved we can stay consistent.

It reminded us that it’s not only about how we view ourselves,

but about being genuine,

adding positivity to our lives

and to others.

It was isolating,

yet solitude became fertile ground.

Our ideas bloomed untouched,

no one there to distort our imagination

before the physicality could take form.

And so the path leads us here,

to The Oasis.

After the dry and dusty miles,

day upon day searching

for green and fresh water,

for beauty to restore us,

for peace to quench our thirst,

we journeyed on.

And on that road we met:

Mirages.

The New Strange.

Drifters.

All meant to knock us off course,

to make us settle for what does not fuel us.

To tempt us with what shimmers

but does not give us nourishment.

But now?

Now we see past them.

We know that even the most beautiful mirage

can take years of a life.

So how do we know the Oasis is real this time?

Honestly,

that is ours to discern.

Does it fuel us?

Does it love us?

Is it genuine?

Would it care if we were absent?

If not,

it’s likely a mirage.

But if it does…

then it may just be our Oasis.

And if that’s the case,

then I would tell you to journey on,

because it means you’ve finally found it.

Author’s Note:

The Desert Season wasn’t about suffering. It was really just life turning the volume down so we could finally hear ourselves think. It showed us that being alone can actually help, staying consistent matters, and clarity doesn’t rush. The Desert didn’t break us, it showed what was real. And that’s how we learned the difference between something that looks good and something that actually nourishes us.
